Do not apply your conditioner directly to the top of your hair. Apply it to the ends of your hair only. The hair at the scalp is the healthiest and needs less conditioning. Conditioning this part of your hair may make it feel heavy and flat.

Some of our clients complain about their hair having a heavy build-up of products and a somewhat scorched feeling. After many questions, we found that some of our clients use the curling iron over hair that has hairspray on it. This is a NO NO. A hot curling iron can actually scorch hair that has a build-up of hairspray. We suggest using REDKEN's "Hot Sets". This product is a thermal protectant and is specifically made to protect hair from the curling iron.

If you color your hair at home and the results are not what you expected (too dark, for example), wash your hair immediately with dishwashing soap, like Joy or Palmolive. This will strip much of the color, but be sure to deep condition afterwards because the soap will dry out your hair. Remember, drastic changes in hair color should be left up to professional hair stylists, as color correction can be very costly and time consuming. If you have curly hair and would like a nice defined curl make sure that after you shampoo you do not put your hair up in a towel (turban style). The best way to dry curly hair is to scrunch dry it with a towel. Hold the towel in both hands and tilt head to the side. Bring the towel up to the scalp and gently squeeze the moisture out of your hair. This can be done several times. The more moisture you absorb in the towel the better your curl formation will be.
